I read Chinese

In 2012, I began learning Cantonese for the second time, and I often do not notice subtle tone changes. Yet, Chinese characters remain my bridge to Cantonese culture. While traditional Chinese Hanzi and Japanese Kanji are not the same, it has become my personal game to read Chinese in a Japanese way, and to translate words into German and then to English. Chinese characters have become a translation playground where the imagination is valued more than accuracy.
